International students are allowed to work in Québec under certain conditions.
Working during your studies
Working on the ITHQ campus (student café, hotel, restaurant) is possible as long as you hold a valid study permit and are a full-time student at our school.
For full details and specific conditions, please consult the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) guidelines: Working on campus.
Holders of a valid Canadian study permit may work off the ITHQ campus for a maximum of 20 hours per week during regular full-time study sessions, and for an unlimited number of hours during vacations scheduled in the school calendar, subject to certain conditions.
For full details and specific conditions, please consult the IRCC guidelines: Working off-campus as an international student.
Internships, paid or unpaid, are an integral part of some of the ITHQ’s programs of study. To work as an intern, you must hold a student work permit for cooperative and internship programs (PTSC).
If your program includes one or more internships, you must apply for a PTSC at the same time as your study permit, in accordance with the terms and conditions determined by IRCC.
For full details and conditions, please consult the IRCC guidelines: Working as an intern or co-op student.
Working after your studies
The regulations for obtaining a post-graduation work permit will change as of November 1, 2024. For up-to-date information, visit the IRCC website.
Permanent immigration procedures are strictly personal matters and have no connection with the mission and role of the ITHQ.
In a context where immigration policies and rules are constantly evolving, often unpredictably, and where immigration requirements are being tightened at both the provincial and federal levels, the ITHQ cannot make any commitment to or be held responsible for the eligibility of graduates for any immigration program.
In addition, although our team can provide general information on the subject, please note that we are not in a position to advise you on immigration to Canada, nor any concerns about permanent residency.
