Research team

A doctoral student in education at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), Ivan Luciano Avaca is interested in second language learning from a cognitive and neuroscientific perspective. 

Having contributed to the research projects of the NeuroLab at UQAM as a research assistant, he also participated in a language proficiency evaluation project at the National Centre for Excellence for Language Pedagogy (NCELP) at the University of York. In 2020-2022, he led a project focussed on the experience of wonder in the hospitality environment as an intern for ExperiSens.   

As research advisor, a role he assumed in August 2022, Ivan provides support to the ITHQ’s faculty researchers while being involved in improving research-related procedures.

Marie-Flore Dérival began her career as a programmer-analyst before completing a degree in accounting sciences and a certificate in administration at ESG UQAM. 

After working in the telecommunications and banking sectors, Marie-Flore joined the ExperiSens team as an Administration Technician. Since 2023, she has been in charge of providing administrative support for all the research projects at the ITHQ. 

Nicolas Truchon holds a Diploma of College Studies in laboratory technology, specializing in biotechnology. He has been working in technical support in the field of education since the beginning.  

 Passionate about science as well as cooking, his role at the ITHQ is to ensure the smooth running of the research spaces while providing technical support to the members of the research teams.
