Mandate

The mandate of the Commission pédagogique is to advise the Director’s office on the organization and development of vocational and technical education. 


Scope of action

The Commission pédagogique is called upon mainly to advise on educational initiatives designed to improve the quality of teaching. In particular, it must be consulted on the following issues:

  • Development and implementation of the educational initiatives to be offered to students, including the development of new options or specialties in line with local needs
  • Work conditions and work organization for students and their success
  • Distance learning offerings
  • Pedagogical policies regarding the library and the purchase and selection of texts
  • Any local regulations of an educational nature on student admission and grading criteria
  • Standards and priorities for educational equipment, layout and modification of premises
  • Establishment of the school calendar
  • Any other educational subject determined by the labour relations committee
  • Any problem relating to school organization, curricula, course content, the choice of complementary courses to be offered the clientele, where applicable; quota fixing and clientele

Composition

The Commission is comprised of:

  • 6 Employer representatives appointed by the Employer and chosen from outside the bargaining unit;
  • 7 teachers in charge of departments designated by the Union.
