Confidentiality Policy

The Institut de tourisme et d’hôtellerie du Québec takes all necessary precautions to ensure the privacy of the personal information it collects and acts in accordance with the Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information.

What you should know…

When accessing the ITHQ website, an information exchange automatically takes place between the site’s server and the user’s computer, without the latter having to intervene. This exchange does not, however, contain personal information. Only the following information is transmitted to ensure the compatibility of files exchanged :

  • The Internet domain name and IP address* or website address from which you accessed the ITHQ website; 
  • The type of browser and operating system used;
  • The date and time of access; 
  • The different pages visited;

Remarketing is used in the context of advertising campaigns aimed at determining user interests and in which third-party vendors, including Google, deliver our ads on various websites. The ITHQ and third-party vendors, including Google, use proprietary cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookie) and third-party cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) concurrently to obtain information and to optimize and deliver ads based on website user sessions.

*An IP address is a numeric code that uniquely identifies a computer connected to the Internet, providing its location data.

Technological and statistical use

The ITHQ retains only the information necessary to count the number of visitors to its website, the pages visited most often, the technology used, referring sites and the country of origin of visitors. This information is collected solely for technological reasons inherent to web browsing and is used for statistical purposes only. No personally identifiable user information is transmitted to the ITHQ through use of its site.

Transmission of personal information

Personal information collected by the ITHQ is treated in accordance with the Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information.

As stipulated by the Act, only information necessary to respond to and follow up on a message from a user is used among the information transmitted to the ITHQ via electronic form or e-mail.

Moreover, no personal information transmitted to the ITHQ is communicated to any other government agency, unless the request does not address this agency or that disclosure is required by law. In no event will transmitted information be used to create user profiles or sent to a private agency.

Links to other sites

The ITHQ is not responsible for the content of websites its users may be referred to, no more so than it is for those sites’ confidentiality policies.
