This new ITHQ Signature program combines training in restaurant service techniques with knowledge pertaining to the fascinating world of wines and spirits.
In order to practice the profession of server-sommelier, personality (people skills) are just as important as technical mastery (know-how). Behaviour, attitude and profession-specific values are essential components of these people skills, which are indispensable in behaving professionally towards clients. Server-sommelier trainees must also have a curious mind and excellent sensory abilities, because one of the important aspects of their training involves the organoleptic analysis of wines and culinary dishes in order to create successful food and wine pairings.
Thanks to its significant practical component – thirty weeks of knowledge application at the ITHQ’s dining rooms and another thirty within ITHQ partner establishments, half of them in an English-speaking setting and the other half in France – the International Restaurant Service and Sommelier Training program allows students to learn in a real-life setting, giving them a head start in terms of professional experience.
This new program, offered exclusively at the ITHQ, will open doors to the best establishments in Québec, elsewhere in Canada and abroad. Not only will it allow you to lead a distinguished career within the international restaurant industry, it will also make you a sought-after professional who is able to be a true food and wine ambassador.
