For the past few years now, the Hôtel de l’Institut has gone green, taking part in the Québec hospitality industry’s recognition program for sustainable development.
As an active member of the Réser*Vert network, the Hôtel de l’Institut is continually striving to improve its procurement practices and its approach to offering high-quality products and services for its guests while reducing negative impacts on the environment.
A leader in buying locally and responsibly
In all its housekeeping activities, the Hôtel de l’Institut uses innovative 100% biodegradable products made by Innu-Science Canada Inc.
It also provides its clients with Zero% bath amenities, made by Gilchrist & Soames using natural ingredients.
The room renovations carried out in 2010 were a breath of fresh air and a perfect time to make ecologically sound and responsible additions, including the following purchases:
- Recycled fibre carpets and curtains
- Simmons mattresses with replaceable Evernu mattress tops
- Wood and granite furniture made in Sainte-Mélanie, Québec
- Eco Spec paint by Benjamin Moore
- Energy Star televisions and mini-refrigerators
For its part, the Restaurant de l’Institut offers market cuisine prepared with fresh, quality, locally produced foods.
Ecological choices to save energy and better manage water and waste
- Paper, cardboard, plastic and glass recycling bins in all hotel rooms and all employee workstations
- Ecologo-certified cleaning products sourced from biotechnology
- Ecologo-certified, non-chlorinated facial tissues and toilet paper
- Sheets and towels changed every two days, at the guest’s request
- Water-saving devices installed on toilets and faucets
- Soap bars recycled by the company Évolution
- Intelligent hoods and induction cooktops used in the Restaurant de l’Institut kitchen
- Cloth tablecloths and napkins used in the dining room
- Leftover food donated to La Maison Du Père on a regular basis

Ask for our ecologically responsible banquet or meeting package, designed to prevent waste and promote recycling.
