The room renovations carried out in 2010 were a breath of fresh air and a perfect time to make ecologically sound and responsible changes, including the following purchases:
For its part, the Restaurant de l’Institut offers its guests cuisine prepared with fresh products sold by local suppliers.
In the summer of 2013, the ITHQ set up a beehive on its roof to house 5,000 bees, enough to produce between 30 and 50 kg of honey each season. To ensure the project's success, the ITHQ has enlisted the services of the Québec firm Alvéole, which installed and maintains the hive to harvest pesticide-free honey that is as local as you can get. A portion of the harvest will be given to the Restaurant de l’Institut.
