Presentation
In addition to promoting student exchanges and fostering worldwide mobility for its future graduates, the ITHQ provides technical and educational support to numerous foreign countries and establishments. The Institute’s actions aim at meeting the needs of businesses and institutions in the hotel, tourism, and foodservice sectors that wish to develop new markets, update the skills of their staff or set up instructional hotels or continuing education services.
A team of experts serving the international community
The ITHQ team includes professionals who are experts in a variety of sectors and have solid experience in the tourism, hotel, and foodservice industries. The Institute’s professors know how to effectively combine concept and knowledge integration approaches in order to meet the needs and practices of each discipline. Moreover, its administrators possess the required abilities to negotiate agreements and manage multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
Services offered
1. Customized training, consultation and technical support
The consultation and technical support services offered by the ITHQ are intended for organizations that wish to improve their management practices, to restructure their services offer based on the evolution of their clientele, or assess their strategic positioning. The Institute offers these organizations specialized professional assistance.
The customized training service meets the specific training needs of foreign businesses and government staff. Its flexible professional development activities take into account the time, budget, and staff limitations of organizations.
2. Creation of a continuing education centre
The project to create a continuing education centre (CFC) aims at providing institutions with a professional development service for employees in the tourism, hotel, and foodservice sectors, based on the needs expressed by the industry.
The creation of a CFC improves not only the quality of the active labour force of the region, but also the skills of the staff in hotel and tourism educational establishments thanks to a train-the-trainer program.
3. Creation of a commercial and instructional hotel
It is possible for a commercial and instructional hotel to be profitable. The Hôtel de l’Institut is a good example of such a hotel; it integrates more than 50,000 hours of training into its regular activities.
By running a commercial and instructional hotel, the Institute aims to support its training through practical applications in an environment that reflects industry practices as accurately as possible, and at establishing partnerships with the different stakeholders in this sector. The hotel-school model proposed by the ITHQ operates in an autonomous management approach; however, it works closely with an institutional training centre and receives recommendations from an advisory committee.
Ranked four or five stars, this hotel is constantly improving its management systems and integrating new technologies, and thereby contributing to the development of the food-service and tourism industry. It also plays a role in training qualified workers, who gain practical experience directly related to the reality of the sector.
Last but not least, in addition to offering accommodation and porter services, the commercial and instructional hotel is ideal for offering cooking and restaurant service courses. It is also a preferred tool for promoting local cuisine and regional heritage.
