CAFETERIA

In order to properly inform students, a mandatory welcome meeting is held at the beginning of the school session. The following subjects are covered during this meeting: schedule, identification card, storage locker, insurance, student association, educational support, and depending on the program, an English placement test.

COURSE SCHEDULE

Students receive their schedule on the first day of classes and do not have to choose any courses for the first session.

Here is some important information to know:

  • Each week includes about 30 hours of courses over 5 days.
  • The course schedule is modified each session.
  • Any changes requested to the course schedule are practically impossible to make.
  • The time dedicated to courses and studying can vary from one session to another, one week to another and even one day to another, depending on the workshops and educational projects specific to each program.
  • On some days, a course may begin early in the morning (e.g. 8:00 a.m.) or end late in the evening (e.g. 7:00 p.m.).
  • Students who have course credits may not condense their schedule or reduce the duration of their curriculum.
RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING THROUGH EQUIVALENCE OR EXEMPTION

Please note that students who believe they developed the skills taught in a course or module in their prior training may apply for recognition of prior learning before the beginning of the session or the eighth hour of a course at the latest. Information on this process can be found in the document Les règles du jeu (Rules of the game) available at the Registrar’s Office.

MEDICAL EXAMINATION
In compliance with existing laws, all students must make sure that their health does not represent a risk of contamination when handling food products or a risk of contagion for fellow students or the clientele they will be in contact with. Generally speaking, no medical certificate is required; however, the ITHQ reserves the right to ask for one if deemed necessary.
TRANSPORTATION AND PARKING
The ITHQ is located above the Sherbrooke subway station in downtown Montréal. Public transportation is therefore recommended, especially since students cannot use the school’s indoor parking lot and the parking spaces around the school have parking meters or are in reserved areas.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: COMMUTER TRAIN, BUS AND SUBWAY

Students 18 years of age or under before September 1st are eligible for reduced rates from the Agence métropolitaine de transport (commuter trains) and public transportation companies (bus and subway). Students 18 to 25 years old who are residents of Montreal can benefit from the Carte Privilège offered by the Société de transport de Montréal (Montréal Transit Commission).

To take advantage of these reduced rates, students must submit an application that can be obtained from the Service des affaires étudiantes (Student Affairs Services), Room 1.04.

CAFETERIA

A cafeteria service is offered on course days only, from Monday to Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
